Norma Haslem Wiswell Shaw
Norma Haslem Wiswell Shaw passed away surrounded by her family on March 22, 2018 at her home in Vernal, Utah. Norma was born to Jennie Marie Allred and Niles Reno Haslem on September 14, 1935 in Bennett, Utah.
Her family later moved to Vernal, Utah and she graduated from Uintah High School and later attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City receiving her Secretarial Degree.
She was the Mother to eight children: Patty Ann, Barbara Jean, Mary, Howard Elton, Tommy, Lynette Marie, Robert Charles, Lisa Ann, and Russell Lee.
She retired from the Transportation Department with Uintah School District. She made many friends throughout her 30+ years of service and was loved by all.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved the Savior and enjoyed working in the Temple, serving in many capacities including indexing and genealogy.
She enjoyed gardening, working at the green house and truly had two green thumbs. She would beautify anything she touched. She coordinated the flowers and displays for the Vernal Temple Open House.
Norma is survived by her children: Patty (John) Allred, Barbara (Russell) Evans, Mary (Daniel) Stubbs, Howard Elton (Marcia) Wiswell , Lynette Marie Williamsen, Robert Charles Shaw, Lisa Ann (John) Luthi and Russell Lee (Teresa) Shaw; siblings Nila (Ronald) Batty, Norman (Jana) Haslem, David (Barbara) Haslem, Max Haslem, Flossie (Charles) Walker and Brent (Kathy) Haslem; 37 grandchildren, 128 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She is Preceeded in death by her parents; brother Jerry Haslem; sister-in-law Eileen Haslem; son Tommy Shaw; grandchildren: Matt Evans, Brandy Huff, Jessica Stubbs, Brian Evans and Kinsey Norma Shaw;
In Lieu of flowers Norma would prefer you make donations to the LDS Church Temple Perpetual Fund and the LDS Education Perpetual Fund.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 11AM at the Ashley 2nd Ward LDS Chapel (3040 North Vernal Avenue). A viewing for friends and family will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8PM at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Thursday 9:45-10:45AM at the Chapel. Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park. Services have been entrusted to the care of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
