Frequently Asked Questions

Below are a few questions we have been asked.  If you a question, please give us a call or visit us at the funeral home.  We are available 24/7.

We would like to switch our pre-need policy which was made with another funeral home to Ashley Valley Funeral Home, what do we need to do?

It is actually a easy no-hassle transition.  You will not even have to go visit the old funeral home to get your policy, we will work directly with the insurance company saving you time and hassle with other funeral homes.  All plans are transferrable even if they say they are irrevocable.  All irrevocable means is that the policy cannot be canceled, but you still have the right to change funeral homes.  All we will need to have you do is come in (or we can come to your home) and sign a form that will be faxed to the insurance company.

What do we do when death occurs away from home?

When death occurs out of town and you want Ashley Valley Funeral Home to handle the funeral services, contact us directly as soon as the death occurs.  Don’t call a separate funeral home out-of-town.  Calling Ashley Valley Funeral Home first will enable us to coordinate all the details both in the city where the death occurs, and here in the Uintah Basin, where services will take place.  This can save you and your family time, anxiety and it will lower overall expenses.  You’ll be able to make your decisions in more familiar surroundings with people you know.  You may want to consider the pre-arrangement of funeral services so that you will know exactly what will be happening when that difficult time occurs.

How can I make sure that my funeral arrangements are carried out according to my wishes?

Pre-arranging a funeral is one of the more thoughtful decisions an individual can make for his or her survivors.  It ensures that your funeral preferences and desires will be respected upon your death.

Can I still have a funeral or memorial service if I choose cremation?

Yes, cremation is only a final disposition like burial.  If you choose cremation, we can still have a funeral service, or even a viewing with the body present, and then have the cremation take place after the services.

Will life insurance pay for funerals?

Yes, as a convenient method of payment, Ashley Valley Funeral Home will allow for an insurance assignment.  This assignment transaction is processed by the mortuary, releasing only the funeral expenses to the Ashley Valley Funeral Home, and with the remaining balance going directly to the beneficiary.  The insurance assignment is an effective, convenient means in which to cover funeral expenses.  Simply having life insurance will not make the important decisions that must be made in regard to your funeral.

Will the Ashley Valley Funeral Home help me with Social Security and Veterans death benefits?

Yes, As part of our after care program, we will set an appointment to discuss any questions that you may have, and help you file the necessary paper work to receive your surviving benefits.

What is a Memorial DVD?

A memorial DVD is a collection of photos the family collect and Ashley Valley Funeral Home compile into a video presentation that is played on a monitor in the foyer of the mortuary or chapel.   Not only do people attending a funeral service or viewing enjoy this presentation, but it also makes a great keepsake for years to come.
