Amy Heather Mecham Vernon passed away on December 6, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 43. Amy was born on January 5, 1974 to Nancy Hulburt and Max Grant Mecham in Traverse City, Michigan.
Amy moved to Vernal at the age of 7 and graduated from Uintah High School in 1992. She was a member of the Uintah U’ette Drill Team. She moved to Provo to go to Utah Valley Community College where she was working towards her bachelor’s degree in Family and Human Development.
She married Phillip Browning in 1993 and they later divorced. In 1999 she married Scott Vernon.
Amy worked at Gale’s Book Store and loved working with her sweet friends there. She enjoyed helping everyone who came in the store.
Amy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had various callings in the Church and met many of her great friends through her service.
Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014 and passed away at the Huntsman Cancer Center on December 6, 2017 from complications due to the cancer.
She was a picture-perfect daughter, sister, wife and mother and was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Amy is survived by her husband Scott Russell Vernon; sons Tyler (Rochelle) Browning, Zackary Vernon, Chayden Vernon; daughter Addyson Vernon, all of Vernal; parents Grant and Nancy Mecham of Vernal; brothers Jace (Karen) Mecham of Hoschton, GA, Monte (Debbie) Mecham of Spanish Fork, Utah; sister Joni (Riley) Taylor of Bicknell, Utah; parents-in-law Russ and Diane Vernon of St. George, Utah; brother-in-law Shawn (Nycole) Vernon of Riverton, Utah; sister-in-law Jamie (Trevor) Hunter of North Ogden, Utah; 17 nieces and nephews and two great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Dean and Katherine Marie Mecham, Wayne Hulburt and Clara Hulburt (Morgan) Merkley.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Maeser Stake Center (2745 West 1000 North). A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8PM at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
