LuAnne Hall Searle

LuAnne was born June 29, 1937, to Norman and Alice Hall, loving parents who taught their three daughters the value of hard work and charity. She paid her way through college by selling her home grown cucumbers. She attended Ricks College for two years in Rexburg, Idaho and then moved to Logan, Utah where she met her lucky future husband while preparing a float for a parade at USU. She graduated with a degree in Home Economics and married Larry Searle in the Idaho Falls temple on July 17, 1959. They were married for 50 years before Larry’s passing in 2009.

Larry and LuAnne moved to Vernal, UT to build a home and raise their family. Together they brought six children into the world and taught them the importance of humility, hard work, faith in God, love, and kindness. Judgmental or unkind words were not tolerated in their home. Mom always told us that you can never judge a person unless you have walked a mile in their shoes.

LuAnne sought only the title of Mother, and she worked hard to make that her sole occupation. She lived simply but her family never wanted for anything. She was always cooking, cleaning, gardening, canning, sewing, ironing, and working part time. Her children never appreciated homemade bread or the smells in the kitchen until they moved away and had to fend for themselves. As her home started to empty, she found more children to love. She earned a degree in education allowing her to teach Special Ed at Ashley Elementary.

She found life’s meaning in the service of others, including her work at the DUP and many church callings. This was one of her greatest sources of peace and happiness. She and Larry served two missions together--one in Smithers, British Columbia and the other in Deseret Ranches, FL. LuAnne was very social and loved talking to her family and close friends. Her quiet husband was often reserved and relied on her to be the forefront of the family and communicator. She had a way with words and a great sense of humor that brought laughter and fun to all family events. Our lives will not be the same without her and are grateful for the love and laughter she gave us.

LuAnne is survived by her children Lori Golding (Thad), Lane Searle (Callissa), Wally Gale, Lon Searle (Mary), Larence Searle (Tylee), and Lance Searle (Ryshann). She is survived by 23 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters Gae Hinckley and Judy Lowery, and many more loving family members and in-laws. She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Raymond Searle and daughter Lynne Searle Gale. Services will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 11:00 am at Vernal 8th Ward. Friends may call on Friday, 6-8 pm at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home, or Saturday at 9:30 to 10:45 am at the Vernal 8th Ward at 1499 Hwy 40. Interment will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery.
