Jeremy Kenneth Fountaine
Family, friends and all those who knew him mourn the loss of Jeremy Kenneth Fountaine, age 40, born August 20, 1976 in Provo, Utah. Known to some as “Jerms” and to others, mostly fellow truckers and coworkers as “Delmar”, Jeremy died very unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in Vernal, Utah where he grew up, starting school at Ashley Elementary and graduating from Uintah High School in 1994. Jeremy was married to Tiffany Willer Fountaine and had two children, Kash and Oakley Fountaine three step children: Hunter Willer, Sierra Willer and Canyon Willer.
Jeremy is the son of Edward Gary Fountaine of Veyo, Utah and Cynthia Bailey Fountaine of Lehi, Utah and is preceded in death by his stepmother, Joy Fountaine, and grandparents Edward Joseph Fountaine and Virginia Patton, aunt Joyce Kelling and maternal grandparents, Minerva and Kenneth Bailey.
He is survived by his parents and siblings, Gary Daniel Fountaine (Loretta Sue) of Oamaru, New Zealand, Alyssa Bailey-Fountaine of Lehi, and Jodie Jamison (Ric) of Cedar Hills, Utah. He will be greatly missed by nieces and nephews including Katherine, Liam, Luke and Elizabeth Fountaine, Kaeden and Sierra Bailey, and Kyler, Taylor, Matthew and Eric Jamison and aunts and uncles including Dr, and Mrs. Karl Lind of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bailey of Alameda, California and Dr. Hans Kelling of Orem, Utah and cousins he admired and loved
When Jeremy married Tiffany, his one true love, in June 2013, he inherited a large, bustling family of in-laws, including mother- and fathers-in-law, Janna and Chad Peterson and Sam Rants and brothers-in-laws Zack Rants (Felicia), Tyler Peterson (Ali), Beau Peterson (Bella), Justin Peterson, Scott Peterson, Corey Peterson (Veronica) and nieces and nephews and more cousins.
In his youth, Jeremy loved little league baseball and had a strong arm that could get a ball in from center field like a rocket. As Mrs. Marsha Oleen, his coach’s wife will testify, “He was Al’s secret weapon!” He truly loved his days on ball field and could often be seen, after a strong hit, running the bases smiling at the grandstands to make sure he was being watched. During his school years, Jeremy also dabbled a bit with the trombone, piano and woodwork with Coach Peterson in high school. He continued to love using his hands and was often the go-to man when there was a repair job to be done or something needed to be built.
Jeremy was not afraid of hard work, and that work ethic carried over into his occupation where his attention to detail and dedication to doing the job right. He began working in the oil field soon after high school. He has worked for Howcroft Field Services, R.W. Jones, Hall Transportation, Sunset West Trucking and CUDD Energy. He was most recently employed by Curt’s Crane Service of Vernal and in heaven to be back operating cranes again.
Jeremy loved his Harley motorcycle and loved hitting the road with his wife, children, brother, dad or a good friend. He was an attentive father and husband and could usually be found after a hard day or week of work, coming home to play with the kids or fix things around the house and yard.
In spite of all of the wonderful things Jeremy accomplished and the joys he found in early morning sunsets on the road and absolute unspeakable joy he found in his children and wife, life’s challenges took their toll and he was ready to leave us much sooner than we imagined he would and we are not sure how to survive without him. Jeremy Fountaine was one of the strongest and most hard-working of men and yet, one of the most sensitive and caring, with a big heart, sparkling blue eyes and infectious laugh. He has left a huge hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. We have to remember he is in a better place. In the words of C.S. Lewis, “There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” We just weren’t ready to see you go.
Quoting his sister, “Fly high, Jeremy, fly free. You are so loved.” Thank you for being our example of peace-lover and love freely given, dedication, joy, a spirit of gratitude and thoughtfulness and forgiveness. We treasure our moments here on earth with you and glory in the day that we will embrace again. We love you.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Vernal 7th Ward LDS Chapel (850 West 100 North). A visitation will be held Saturday from 12:45-1:45 P.M. at the Chapel. Services will be under the direction of Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
