Georgine Bond
Georgine Elizabeth Traber Bond was born in Kremmling Colorado, on October 29, 1924 to William J. and Dorothy E.Traber. She passed away in the Villa in Roosevelt, Utah, on August 5, 2017.
During World War II, she worked at Stapleton Airbase retrofitting commercial airplanes for the war effort.
In 1942 she married Jack Kier and moved to Artesia, Colorado. She and Jack, along with his family, opened a furniture store there. Georgine and Jack had 2 children, Ray and Sherry. Georgine later divorced and moved to Vernal, Utah, to raise her two children.
Georgine lived in Vernal until 1957 when she moved to Salt Lake City and went to work for the school district in the buildings and grounds department, as a secretary. She continued to work there for the next 30 years and received numerous awards and commendations for excellence.
During her 44 years of living in Salt Lake City she devoted a tremendous amount of time working at the Cathedral of The Madeline and the Saint Francis Xavier Church. Some of her responsibilities included performing Sacristorial duties, cleaning and preparing altar linens, and preparing for daily mass services. She was also a large contributor to funding a church in Mesa, Arizona. In 1991 she received recognition for working over 7000 hours and 14 years, volunteering services for the Department of Veteran Affairs.
In 1991 Georgine move back to Vernal to be closer to her family. Georgine lived a long and interesting life filled with years of dedicated service to her family, church, and community. God's love was shown through her. She made several trips to the holy land, contributed to numerous charities and organizations, and was always eager to lend a helping hand to the community.
Family was always the most treasured element in her life, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will carry on forever.
She was truly a people person who made lasting friends wherever she went, her door was always open, and you were greeted with a smile. Her bubbly, happy personality constantly attracted new friends.
Georgine was a genuine, positive, effervescent person throughout her life. Her love of children was an inspiration and perfect example. Her cookie jar was always full, treats were endless, and love was abundant. She will be deeply missed. WE LOVE YOU GRANDMA SAM.
Georgine is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Wilma Traber.
She is survived by her children Raymond Kier and Sherry Gines, her Brother John Traber her grandchildren; Brian (Raleen) Gines, Corey (Rachel) Gines, Travis (Jill) Gines, Jaclyn (Adam) Harrison, Valarie (Rex) Massey, and Melanie (Lynn “Moose”) Silcox; 19 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, August 10, 2017 11AM at the St. James Catholic Church (138 West 100 North). A visitation and rosary will be held Wednesday evening from 7-8PM at the church. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
