Linford Batty
Don Linford Batty of Vernal Utah passed from this life quietly on March 28, 2017.
He was born May 22, 1935 to A Don and Lela Batty. His growing years were spent in the Glines area of Vernal. He was president of the FFA club his senior year of High School. He enjoyed being on the homestead that his father had on Diamond mountain, and spending time with his cousins.
At the young age of 18 he married his sweetheart, Norlene Clark in the Salt Lake Temple on January 8, 1954. Shortly after their oldest daughter was born, they moved to Salt Lake so that Linford could go to trade school to be a machinest. He really enjoyed this and worked at Basin Machine and Welding until the hot oil became too much for his asthma. He ran a dairy farm for several years and then raised beef cattle. He loved being his own boss and teaching his children the value of hard work. He was always ready for a good laugh and liked to joke with people.
He is preceded in death by his sweetheart Norlene, Parents: A Don and Lela Batty, brothers: Garth Batty, and Wayne Batty.
He is survived by his brother: Mark (Shara Dawn) Batty, his children: Lela (Daryl) Wilson, Clark (Daralyn) Batty, Bart (Ana) Batty, Joe (Dianne) Batty, Morgan (Nikki) Batty, Marquita (Doug) Scott, Jae Oman (David) Haroldsen, Tony (Danielle) Batty, Abbie (Kent) Christiansen.
Linford leaves a legacy of hard work, dedication to the gospel of Christ and strength to 46 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 3, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Rockpoint Chapel (2575 North 1500 West) A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the chapel and Monday 9:45-10:45 A.M. at the chapel. Interment will be in the Rockpoint Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 11 and the Utah National Guard. Services are under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
