Patricia Stewart
Patricia Lewis Stewart
July 1, 1929 ~ December 20, 2016
Our precious, beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, grandma-great, and friend, Patricia Lewis Stewart went to be with the Lord December 20, 2016 at the Ashley Regional Medical Center, Vernal, Utah of a heart attack.
She was born July 1, 1929 in Vernal Utah to Charles Preston Lewis and Crystal Dean Potter Lewis. She graduated from Uintah High School in 1947 and attended BYU for a year. She married her high school sweetheart, Max Stewart August 27, 1948 in Vernal, Utah.
Pat loved her home and was a wonderful “stay at home” mother. She took pride in her home and yard – all things were maintained and kept in order. She was frugal, clever, and artistic. Her husband and children were her top priority and were always cared for and loved. Pat was very active in the community. She was president of the PTA, taught primary, sang for many weddings and funerals in a trio and double mixed quartet, and was involved in civic clubs and sororities. She was an expert clothes designer and seamstress. She loved the unloved and always made time for everyone. She never held a grudge. Her nieces and nephew, Joni, Carolyn, Sher, Paula, Pam, and Bill were very special to her, she loved them dearly. Pat along with a handful of women were the first advocates for the humane treatment of animals in the Uintah Basin and continually worked to educate the community to spay and neuter their pets. She would take her singing dog Wendell into the schools to teach the children kindness toward all creatures and how to properly take care of their pets. Pat loved “good music” and dancing and was always the life of the party. She and Max taught ballroom dancing during the 60’s. She sang and ministered at the care center once a week for many years. Being outdoors on a picnic was one of her favorite things to do. She was ever filled with wonder at the changing scenes of God’s creation. Elaborate dinner parties were given by her and done on a shoestring. Pat was universally loved by young and old alike because of her infectious enthusiasm for life. She wanted all things to be in harmony. She became a child of God in 1983, (“But as many as received Him, to them gave power to become children of God, even them who believe in His name.” John 1:12). She loved God’s Word, the Bible.
Pat is survived by her husband Max, daughter Merridy (Butch) Sevy, son Preston (Kathy) Stewart, brother Howard Lewis, granddaughters Megan (Scott) Fritton, and Kalli (Matt) Corbin, great-grandchildren Mattix Corbin, Josiah Fritton, and Nathan Fritton. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Lenore Nielson, and great-granddaughter, Cienna Joy Corbin.
Funeral services will be held Friday December 30, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Friends may call Friday 10:00 -10:45 at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Online condolences may be shared at www.AshleyValleyFuneralHome.com.
