Rod J Slaugh
Rod J. Slaugh of Lapoint, Utah passed away peacefully at the age of 41 on October 8th 2016 at the University of Utah Medical Center due to a brain aneurysm. Rod was born to John and Charlotte (Workman) Slaugh on March 12, 1975 in Vernal, Utah as the third of eight children. At the age of 11 Rod and his two younger sisters were diagnosed with a rare syndrome known as Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS), which caused them to lose their vision at an early age.Rod served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Toronto, Canada from 1994 to 1996. He later graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, and then went on to receive his license as a Massage Therapist. Some of Rod's greatest joys came from serving as a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Those services included attending the temple regularly and faithfully, and fulfilling his church callings and priesthood responsibilities. Rod was always excited to help those that needed him. Rod's hobbies included writing fantasy novels, working out, taking long walks, and going to the theater. Spending time with his nieces and nephews was one of Rod’s greatest joys in life. Whether it was talking about the new shows coming out or sitting down and playing games, Rod especially loved playing video games with his nephews. He will be greatly missed. Rod is preceded in death by his grandparents: Carlyle and Shirley (Beynon) Workman, Royal Slaugh and Winnie (Collier) Evans. He is survived by Parents: John and Charlotte Slaugh (Lapoint, Utah). Siblings: Annette (Randy) Allred (Lapoint, Utah), and Dee (Candice) Slaugh (Lapoint, Utah), Chris (Katie) Slaugh (Saratoga Springs, Utah), Eric (Marcie) Slaugh (Wellington, Colorado), Shirley Slaugh (Lapoint, Utah), Brock (Jennifer) Slaugh (Lapoint, Utah) and Amber Slaugh (Lapoint, Utah) . Nineteen nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Thursday October 13th 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lapoint Chapel. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home one hour prior to services at the Chapel. Burial will be in the Lapoint Cemetery.
