Dean Johnson


Iowa Dean Johnson was born July 15, 1930 in Vernal UT to Quince DeWitt and Chole Maria Hall Johnson. He was the 7th of ten Children. He lived his childhood on the Ranch in Deep Creek UT. He attended Uintah High School graduating in 1948. He married Clifta Carol Searle on November 19, 1954 in Vernal UT and it was later solemnized in the Provo UT temple. They had three children and lived 62 years on the same property in Maeser. Dean worked as a service station attendant for Lynn’s Texco in Vernal and a heavy equipment operator for Uintah County Road crew until he became a Bus Driver in the early 70’s. He worked for Uintah School District for 27 years and at the time of retirement his all-time favorite run was his Kindergarten runs. Dean loved ranching and soon after he was married he started in the cattle business with one cow. At the time of his passing he and his son operate 125 head cattle ranch in Ashley Canyon and Taylor Mt. He was president of the Taylor Mountain Grazing Association for several years and the Ditch Rider for J & J pipeline. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He is survived by his wife Clifta, daughters, Deborah(Ned) Davis of Vernal UT, Tamara (Randy) Vincent of Jensen, Son Quentin R (Belinda) Johnson of Vernal UT, Brothers, Larry, Loyal, Ralph, and Orson, 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He is preceeded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 1 brother and a grandson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 11A.M. at the Rockpoint LDS Chapel (2575 North 1500 West). A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8P.M. at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Tuesday 9:45-10:45A.M. at the Chapel. Interment will be in the Rockpoint Cemetery under the direction of the Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
