Delmer Gene Lane
Delmer G. Lane, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and just a great guy, went to be with God on July 27, 2016. He was born in Hilltop, Colorado with his twin brother, Elmer, on June 13, 1927.
Delmer married the love of his life, Loretta Laskey, on December 19, 1948. He was a devoted husband and they honestly spent nearly every day of their lives together until he went into the Uintah Care Center in 2015. Their children Glenda Lane, Debbie Lane McCarrell and Mike Lane (Gleneita) were an important part of their lives together. Kevin Reardon and Nancy Stone were also welcomed into the family as teenagers.
Delmer worked in a dairy, gas station and for C&H Distributing Company in Granby, Colorado as well as refereed basketball, football and umpired baseball. When they moved to Vernal in 1962 he worked for C&H Distributing. He worked for Dalbo in California for several years.
He was instrumental in starting the boys baseball league, continued to referee and umpire sports, volunteered, along with Loretta, teaching Red Cross first aid classes and was active in Kiwanis, the Vernal Fire Department and was proud of the service he did, along with many others, to get volunteer fire department buildings built in some of the outlying communities. He loved fishing, hunting with his brothers, and other family members and had great stories about their adventures. He was an active member of the Kingsbury Community UCC Church since 1962.
